ASSONANCE
Chamberlike sounding trio dream
Assonance tells instrumental stories about topics like dull work days, cosy evenings at home or getting by with inevitable things in life – all of them something that belong to our everyday life. They think it is comforting to know that we are all in this together – waking up every day and coping with everything that life brings along.
The music of Assonance is intimate, sometimes fragile, spacious and introspective. It gives the listener a chance just to be in the moment and to experience a musical environment where time goes slower or even stops for a moment.
Anna Kalk – guitar & compositions
Paul Butscher – trumpet, flugelhorn
Loïc Baillod – double bass
AINO SALTO
Not really jazz
AINO S. is spherical music with pulsating beats and poetry that has method to its madness.
Bern-based Sonia Loenne’s (BUREAU BUREAU, EDNA) new – and probably „softest“ (use with caution) project yet could be called Not Really Jazz if you wanted to find a genre. There is clearly a poetic focus.
The quite feminist program is about mushroom networks, anger and life as the feeling of looking at power lines through the car’s window. The award-winning singer, composer and drummer presents this brand-new band with the debut EP imagine people as adolescent birds that will be released in early 2025.
Sonia Loenne – vox, comp.
Luzius Schuler – keys, synth
Paul Butscher – flugelhorn
Tabea Kind – double bass
Eddy Sonnenschein – drums
ANNA KALK QUARTET
Contemporary jazz – comforting sounds
The compositions are introspections on the darker sides of life, the struggles, and the bitterness.
Expressed through the warm and comforting sounds of the quartet, the solemn nature of the topics is met with equanimity and strength.
The quake of a transition, the melancholy of an ending, or the uncertainty of a new beginning. All this and more is felt in the music of Anna Kalk.
Album coming in January 2025 on Neuklang records

Paul Butscher – trumpet, flugelhorn
Loïc Baillod – double bass

EDDY SONNENSCHEIN'S TIME
timeless-cocoon-jazz
Eddy Sonnenschein’s music doesn’t have to prove anything, shouldn’t have to prove anything. It exists on its own. Everything is equally important: be it the brilliant solo passages or the air sounds of the instruments, or the sound of the piano pedal. Contemporary melodies where the music doesn’t stop where the notes end. Instead, everything is music: breathing in, hearing, feeling. And not because something is added to it, but because everything is already music, and always has been, and the four musicians recognise this with humility towards what already exists. text by Sonia Loenne

Alvin Schwaar – piano
Loïc Baillod – double bass
Paul Butscher – trumpet, fluegelhorn
